About the Design
The Beautiful Noise Make-A-Long is a welcoming community project centred around a Tunisian crochet wrap and blanket design, inspired by the power of music to connect people across cultures and continents. Featuring a dynamic wave pattern with pronounced peaks and troughs, the design echoes the visual language of sound waves on a recording screen, using fibre to translate rhythm, energy, and emotion into tactile pattern and colour.
Designed by passionate music lover, Martin Up North, Beautiful Noise continues the spirit of his much-loved Scheepjes MALs Get Connected and Landscapes, both celebrated for their strong sense of community and thoughtful construction. This time, the shared theme is music: the songs that shape our memories, lift our moods, and soundtrack our lives.
Named after the iconic Neil Diamond song, Beautiful Noise invites you to join in, share the music that inspires you, and connect to a global community of makers around a shared creative theme.
Yarn Options and Inspirational Colourways
This versatile pattern lends itself to a variety of Scheepjes yarns. The generously sized wrap is featured in four inspirational colourways made using yarns from the Stone Washed, Woolwise and Scrumptious collections, each bringing their own unique character and palette. The pattern is easily adapted for creating larger pieces, as demonstrated by the cosy blanket made with thicker Aran weight Stone Washed XL .
Beautiful Noise is suitable for adventurous beginners who are ready to explore Tunisian crochet in a structured and well-supported way. The pattern does not require a special Tunisian crochet hook, making it accessible to those curious to try the technique using standard tools.
Yarn available via Scheepjes retailers worldwide.

About the Designer
Martin lives with his family in the forests of northern Sweden, a world away from his birthplace of Vienna, where he was born and raised.
His crochet journey began in 2010 after moving to Sweden, initially to keep his ever-busy hands occupied. Over time, crochet became much more than that, a creative practice that brings him calm, focus, and balance. When he’s not designing or stitching, Martin can often be found outdoors with his camera, capturing the beauty of the surrounding wilderness. He finds peace in the contrast between the freedom of nature and the precision of hook and stitch, embracing everything from soothing, repetitive patterns to complex, full- focus designs. For Martin, every moment has its own rhythm, and its own pattern.
He is also a valued member of the Scheepjes Designer Collective (SDC) and the force behind the much-loved Scheepjes Make-A-Longs Get Connected and Landscapes, both celebrated for their strong sense of community and thoughtful design.
